When it comes to practicing “hatha yoga”, which is the most popular form of yoga in the western countries, there are five main yoga techniques that constitute the method in practicing “hatha yoga”. These five yoga techniques represent the five elements which are “drushti” which pertains to the quality of our awareness, the “asana” or the quality of posture, “vinyasa” which is the quality of our movement, the “bandha” which is the quality of our energy, and lastly, the “pranayama” which is the quality of our breathing. These five elements are said to create the energetic model of full potential of life and these five elements are supposed to be balanced and present.

If these elements are not present or one of them are overemphasized or not neglected and overemphasis on space may lead to withdrawal and neglect to anxiety, while overemphasis on earth may lead to rigidity and neglect may lead to weakness. Meanwhile, overemphasis on fire could lead to depletion and neglect to it possibly will lead to dullness while overemphasis on air leads to instability and neglect to air may lead to heaviness.
